Ernest William Grosskurth, age 81, died Monday, June 7, 2021 at The Bay at Eastview. Ernest was born on October 13, 1939 in the town of Harrison to the late Ernest William and Caroline Johanna (Tegtmeier) Grosskurth. He married Lois Meister on May 28, 1965. The couple later divorced. Ernest dairy farmed Jersery cows in the Town of Harrison. He also worked at Kretz Lumber and Northern Roofing. He enjoyed having work horses on his farm. He was fond of M&M’s and sauerkraut. He resided with his brother and sister-in-law, Karl and Janice Grosskurth, in the Town of Rolling for the last five years. Ernest is survived by a son Glen Grosskurth of Wausau, 2 brothers: Karl (Janice) Grosskurth of Town of Rolling and Werner (Rosemary) Grosskurth of Antigo, a sister Thea Lee of Wichita, KS, and a brother-in-law Fred Henkelman of Merrill. In addition to his parents, Ernest was preceded in death by his infant son Bruce, sisters: Gerda Henkelman, Irmagard Bunge, Heidi Grosskurth, and a brother Siegfried (Gary) Grosskurth. Private graveside services were held at Elmhurst Cemetery. The family extends a special thanks to the staff at The Bay at Eastview for caring for Ernest in his final months and Ann and the staff at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home for their guidance and service.
