Estelle "Mimsie" Sauter

Estelle "Mimsie" Marie Sauter died Aug. 11, 2011 at Eastview Medical and Rehabilitation Center in Antigo at the age of 98. She was born Jan. 7, 1913 in Dorchester, WI, daughter of the late Julius and Josephine (Mertens) Werner. She was raised in Dorchester, and graduated from Dorchester High School in 1931. She married Ignatius R. Sauter on Aug. 16, 1933 in Dorchester. He preceded her in death on Oct. 27, 1983. She lived in Plymouth and Random Lake for many years, before moving to Edina, MN to stay with her daughter, Nancy. She later moved to Antigo, to be near her other daughter, Barbara. Mrs. Sauter was a homemaker, and also worked as a telephone operator, licensed barber, and cook. She learned to cook while working for the Messenger family in Milwaukee, and she used the craft throughout her life. She was a former member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Random Lake, where she was active in the Christian Mothers organization. In later years, Mrs. Sauter also attended St. John Catholic Church in Antigo. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she will be remembered as a devout woman. She is survived by many loving family members who will remember her as their dear "Mimsie." Survivors include her 2 daughters, Barbara (Dr. Ted) Fox of Antigo, Nancy (Paul) Wirtz of Hot Springs, AR; a son, Kenneth (Jeanice) Sauter of Rosemont, MN; 12 grandchildren, Dr. Stephen (Wendy) Fox of Wausau, Thomas (Terry) Fox of New Berlin, Mary Heather (Dr. Douglas) Carlson of Pewaukee, Lt. Col. Jonathan Fox of Mass City, MI, Peter (Susan) Fox of Prescott, WI, Susan Fox (Chrys Carey) of Washington DC, Theodore, Jr. (Kali) of Wausau, Nancy Fox of Flagstaff, AZ, Renee Sauter of Woodbury, MN, Anne-Marie Sauter of New York, NY, Stephanie Sauter of Bozeman, MT, and Jennifer Sauter of Woodbury, MN; 15 great-grandchildren, Madeliene Fox, Kelly Fox, Christopher Fox, Jonathan Fox, Alex Carlson, Siri Carlson, Eric Carlson, Mitchell Fox, Zachary Fox, Conrad Fox, Ethan Fox, Anna Jean Fox, Stuart Fox, Abigail Fox, and Simon Carey; and many nieces and nephews. Her parents preceded her in death, including her father, who died when she was 4, and her step-father John Marette, who died when she was 12. She was also predeceased by 2 brothers, Edward and Julius Werner, and a sister, Loretta Jantsch. A funeral mass will take place at 11:45 a.m. Sat., Aug. 13 at St. John Catholic Church, with Fr. Charles Hoffmann officiating. Visitation will be 10:00-11:45 at the church gathering hall. Burial will take place at a later date in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Random Lake. A memorial in her name will be established for All Saints Catholic Schools, 419 6th Ave. Antigo, WI 54409, and the Reflections Unit at Eastview Medical and Rehabilitation Center, 729 Park St. Antigo, WI 54409.
