Esther Kolz

Esther Kolz, formerly of Antigo, died at Homme Home in Wittenberg on Sunday, June 12, 2011. She was 101 years old.She was born Dec. 22, 1909 in Birnamwood, daughter of the late Ernest and Mary (Gueller) Dickman. She married George "Shorty" Kolz in May of 1965. He preceded her in death on Oct. 24, 1982. She was a 1927 graduate of Birnamwood High School.Mrs. Kolz was employed as a telephone switchboard operator in Antigo, Birnamwood, and Vesper. She also worked at Antigo Shoe Factory and Blackjack Steakhouse.She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Antigo.She enjoyed Packers and Brewers games, fishing, and bingo at the Homme Home.She is survived by a sister, Marie Gilray of Birnamwood, and nieces and nephews.In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 4 sisters and an infant brother.Burial will follow the service at Queen of Peace Cemetery.
