Eugene Allen Kluwe of Antigo passed away on September 18, 2021 at Aspirus Langlade Hospital at the age of 83. Gene was born on June 25, 1938 in Polar to the late Albert and Mae (Schisel) Kluwe. He graduated from Antigo High School in 1956. After High School, he went on to serve in the United States Marines. On June 9, 1960, he was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Nelson in Urbana, IL. She preceded him in death on September 24, 2017. The couple resided in Champaign, IL for 16 years where Gene worked for Petry and Sons Construction. The couple then moved back to Antigo in 1975, where Gene started Kluwe Construction. Gene had a passion for his work and building homes. He retired in 1997 due to health. Gene was an active member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Polar. There, he served on the church council as an elder. He also served on the Evangelism Board and quilted with the St. Peter's Ladies AID. He was a special member of Donna Stanton's Bible Study Group as well. Gene was also a member of the Lutheran Bowling League and Lion's Club where he served as president. He was also a member of the DAV and American Legion Post 3. Gene loved hunting, fishing, and reading. He was an avid Packer fan and loved wildlife. He enjoyed working in his shop and working on puzzles. Most of all he loved spending time with his family. Gene is survived by daughters; Pamela (Dayton "Pat") Borneman of Suring and Tericia "Teri" (Jay) Doucette of Gleason, son; David (Peggy) Kluwe of Polar, grandchildren; Sarah Bosch, Rachel (John) Galland, Matthew (Trina) Borneman, Tracie (Shane) Hall, Jennie (Travis) Karpf, and Lorie (Zilles), great grandchildren; Natalie Bosch, Brogan Bosch, Isaak Hall, Ethan Hall, Gracie Hall, Adelita Karpf, Liam Karpf, Zander Zilles, Zolan Zilles, and Andrew Galland, sister; Delilah Blume of St. Louis, MO, sister-in-law; Hazel Kluwe of Seattle, WA. In addition to his parents and wife, Gene was preceded in death by a son; Eugene Allen Jr, sisters; Lorraine Porst, Bernice Stuempges, Dorothy Russ, Virgil Tober, and Mary Nygard, brothers; Larry Kluwe, Maynard Kluwe, Norman Kluwe, and Ervin Kluwe, grandson-in-law; James Zilles. A funeral service for Gene will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at 11:30 AM at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Polar with Reverend Donald Engebretson officiating. Visitation will take place prior to the service on Saturday at the church from 9:30 to 11:30 AM. Burial will follow the service at St. Peter's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Peter's Lutheran Church in memory of Gene. Strasser-Roller Funeral Home is assisting the family.
