Eugene "Butch" Kolz

Eugene "Butch" Kolz died Monday, September 4, 2017 at Eastview Medical and Rehabilitation in Antigo. He was 93 years old. He was born February 7, 1924 in Antigo, son of the late Frank and Theresa (Paa) Kolz. He married Genevieve Blaha on May 3, 1947 in Antigo, and she preceded him in death on November 16, 2004. Mr. Kolz graduated from Antigo High School, then served in the US Navy during World War II. He was employed as a City of Antigo firefighter. He was a member of VFW Post #290 in Pelican Lake, and the Wisconsin Retired Firefighters Association. He played baseball in his younger years, and was on the Antigo Candies. He also supported and coached youth and little league baseball for many years. He was member of St. John Catholic Church. Survivors include 3 children, Mary (Rick) Bartletti of Antigo, Ann (Michael) McCann of Antigo, and Steven (Lynn) Kolz of Pelican Lake; 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren with twins arriving soon; and 2 great-great grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by 5 sisters; a brother; and a son-in-law, Michael McCann. A memorial service will take place at 3:00 p.m. Friday at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home, with Fr. Charles Hoffmann officiating. Visitation will be 2:00-3:00 at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in Bohemian Cemetery on a later date.
