Eugene E. "Geno" Brandt

Eugene E. "Geno" Brandt, age 89, died December 11, 2013 at his home, Care Partners in Antigo. Geno was born July 25, 1924 in Bryant to the late Henry and Emma (Belott) Brandt. On October 3, 1956 he was united in marriage to Louise Petroskey at St. Hyacinth's Catholic Church in Antigo. She preceded him in death on June 25, 2002. Geno served in the Army Air Corps from March 20, 1943 until his discharge from Fort McCoy on November 6, 1945. He served as a bombardier during WWII, stationed in France. Geno returned from service and spent several years residing in Milwaukee operating various taverns. He then returned to the Antigo area and operated the Wigwam, the Blue Flame and eventually came to own and operate Geno's Supper Club in Neva. He also worked for various potato growers in the area. He especially treasured time with his granddaughters. Survivors include a son Kevin Brandt of Antigo, a daughter Kelley (Jerome) Steger of Antigo, 2 granddaughters, Keely and Kassie Steger, 3 sisters, Elaine (Richard) Olk of Summit Lake, Margie Probst of Milwaukee, Germaine Brown of Antigo and a brother Everett (Peg) Brandt of Antigo. In addition to his wife and parents, a brother Carroll preceded Geno in death. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 10:30 AM at St. Wencel's Catholic Church in Neva. Father Jeremiah Worman is officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 4-7PM at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home and Monday from 9:00-10:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will be in the St. Wencel's Church Cemetery.
