Eunice R. Gehrke

Eunice R. Gehrke, age 91, died Tuesday June 5, 2018 at Rosalia Gardens, under the care of LeRoyer Hospice. She was born September 8, 1926 in Antigo, a daughter of the late Leo and Helen Theisen. She graduated on the honor roll from Antigo High School in 1943. Eunice loved to play the piano accordion. She played for many dances with her three sisters, while her mother played the drums. After high school, she went to the vocational school for a couple months and then worked at the Langlade Abstract Company for 7 and a half years. She was a housewife and child care provider for over 40 years, which she really enjoyed and in that time, she also was a Den Mother in Thiensville for 2 years. In 1980, she married her wonderful husband, Stanley E. Gehrke and in 2000 they moved back to Antigo from Milwaukee. Eunice was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church in Antigo. Survivors include her loving husband Stanley; three sons, Robert (Michelle) Buettner of Franklin, Michael Buettner of Port Washington, and Daniel (Kelly) Buettner of Quincy, IL; three daughters, Barbara (Terry) Murray of Wauwatosa, Charlene (Owen) Clayton of Omaha, NE, and Colleen Kupfer of White Lake; and one sister, Jeanne (Gene) Shenk of Antigo. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son David Buettner, oldest sister Lorraine Blemke, and youngest sister Grace Murphy. The family will be holding a memorial service for Eunice at Ascension Lutheran Church on Saturday, June 9 at 2:00 pm with visitation prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 pm.
