Evelyn J. Piskula

Evelyn J. Piskula, age 89, of Antigo, died January 1, 2014 at Langlade Hospital under the care of her family and Le Royer Hospice. Mrs. Piskula was born on April 20, 1924 in Antigo to the late Herbert and Elizabeth (Gallion) Below. She married Jerome Piskula on September 7, 1946 in Milwaukee, WI. He preceded her in death November 11, 2002. She was a graduate of Antigo High School class of 1942. Following graduation, she lived in Milwaukee, where she waitressed at Salen's House of Prime Rib for 15 years. She also worked at the Empire Room in Milwaukee as a camera girl at which time Liberace was entertaining there. Mrs.Piskula and her husband owned and operated West End Tap in Greenfield. She later returned to Antigo and waitressed at various restaurants. From 1969-1974 the Piskulas owned and operated the Hitching Post. She was active in the Langlade Hospital Auxiliary and served as their president and was a member of the breast cancer support group, Reach for Recovery. Mrs. Piskula was a member of Ss. Mary & Hyacinth's Catholic Church. Survivors include 2 daughters, Jan (Phil Sberna) of Antigo, Jeryl (Rennie) Szepanski of Wausau, 2 sons, Gary and Robert (Cindy) both of Antigo, 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 3 brothers, Charles Below of Antigo, Julius Below of Alabama, and David (Marlene) Below of Antigo. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Wayne, 2 sisters Doris Kryka and Betsy Below and a brother Kenneth Below. A memorial mass will be held on Sunday at 2:30PM at Ss. Mary & Hyacinth's Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2:30 on Sunday at the church. In lieu of flowers a memorial in Mrs. Piskula's name will be established for Look Good Feel Good at Langlade Hospital. Strasser-Roller Funeral Home is serving the family.
