Florence H. Simmons, longtime White Lake resident, died Thurs., Dec. 31 at Langlade Hospital under the care of her family and LeRoyer Hospice. She was 95 years old.She was born Nov. 21, 1914 in Langlade County, daughter of the late August and Elsie (Sperberg) Buettner. She married Alvin Simmons on Oct. 20, 1932 in White Lake, and he preceded her in death in 1978.Mrs. Simmons was a homemaker, living in Cedarburg for 20 years before returning to White Lake.She was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in White Lake. She was an active church member, participating in the Women's Missionary League, teaching Sunday school, singing in the choir, and leading Bible study. She was an avid quilter, making quilts for many years for World Relief.Survivors include 3 daughters, Elsie (Duane) Schenk of White Lake, Leila (Lynn) Paul of Cedarburg, Gail (Keith) Chrisler of Cedarburg, and Nola Krueger of Grafton; 2 sons, Grant (Betty) of Nekoosa, and Gary (Patricia) of Stevens Point; a sister, Ruth Buettner of White Lake; 4 brothers, Robert (Rowena) Buettner, Alfred of White Lake, Herb (Genevieve) of White Lake, Carl (Diane) of Antigo; 2 daughters in law, Alice Porter of Monona and Judy Simmons of Saukville; 26 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 3 sons, Hilbert, Roland, and Harlan; a sister, Catherine Mytas; and 5 brothers, Arnold, Casper, Ruben, Ramon, August Jr.; and 2 sons in law, Duane Schenk and Glen Krueger.
