Florentine A. "Tina" Steagall

February 7, 1930 — January 9, 2012

Florentine A. "Tina" Steagall, age 81, went home to Jesus after her courageous battle with health issues on Monday, Jan. 9, 2012 at her home. She was under the care of her family and LeRoyer Hospice. She was born Feb. 7, 1930 in Bad Soden, Germany to the late Adam and Theresa Salomon. She married Joseph C. Steagall in 1956 in Germany. He survives. In 1961, she moved to the US with her husband and children. Before settling in the Antigo area, they resided in North Carolina and Colorado. She was a homemaker and also worked as a restaurant chef for over 50 years. In addition to owning and operating the Southside Café, she cooked at Stimac's, Dixie Lunch, Hoffman House, and Riverview. Mrs. Steagall will be remembered for her good cooking, sense of humor, kindness, and generosity. She had a love for traveling, knitting, crocheting, watching and feeding the birds, and time with her family. She especially enjoyed being in the sun. In addition to her husband, Joseph, she is survived by 2 daughters, Yutta W. Hitz of Wausau, and Thelma R. (Timothy) Ryan of Antigo; 3 grandchildren, Jamesion J. Lambert of Fond du Lac, Rachel E. Ryan of Antigo, and Erik S. Hitz of Wausau; and a great-grandson, A.J. Lambert. She was preceded in death by her parents; 12 brothers and sisters; and a grandson, Mark J. Lambert. A funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wed. at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home, with Rev. James Reed officiating. Visitation will be 10:30 until the time of services at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Elmhurst Cemetery.
