Frederick "Fred" Mark Elst of Antigo died at Aspirus Wausau Hospital on Oct. 16, 2013. He was 42 years old. He was born Oct. 28, 1970 in Antigo, son of the late Lester and Marjorie (Bordeau) Elst. He married Colleen Spencer on Nov. 3, 2001 along the Wolf River in Langlade County. Mr. Elst was a graduate of Wayland Academy in Beaver Dam, and he studied in Germany during his time in high school. He was a hard worker. His employment included fishing boats in Alaska, tiling, installing buildings for Wick's Buildings, and Amron. He loved to hunt, and was an avid snowmobiler. He also was a talented musician, playing bass guitar in bands. In addition to his wife, Colleen, survivors include 3 step-daughters, Courtney Fronek of Deerbrook, Kathleen Fronek of Antigo, and Janice Fronek of White Lake; a step-granddaughter, Kaylayna; a sister, Mary (Ray) Maisaioneuve of Green Bay; 5 brothers, Paul Elst of Oconomowoc, Thomas (Debbie) Elst of Antigo, Jeffery (fiancé Diane) Elst of Kenosha, Richard (fiancé Candy) Elst of Antigo, Jim (Linda) Elst of Oconomowoc; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jerome Elst. In accordance with Fred's wishes, no formal services will be held. A gathering in his memory will take place at 6:00 p.m. Friday at Three Jokers.
