Garth L. Skidmore of Deerbrook passed away on October 18, 2020 at Wausau Aspirus Hospital at the age of 85. Garth was born on May 23, 1935 in Pearson to the late Alger and Sadie (Clark) Skidmore. He served in the National Guard. He worked at the DNR as a fire tower watch, at Prefex, at Frost Veneer, and most recently at the Langlade County Highway Department where he spent 27 years. On July 16, 1957, Garth was united in marriage to Mavis Fischer. She survives. Garth enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, gun collecting, watching the Green Bay Packers, and attending Hodag. He was a member of Bryant Ridgerunner Club. He also played with Blue Torch Special and Silvertones. He was also a member at St. Wencel’s Catholic Church. In addition to his wife, Garth is survived by sons; Mark Skidmore of Antigo and Neal Skidmore of Deerbrook, grandchildren; Jami Sanchez, Amee Miller, and Jason Koutnik, great grandchildren; Chance Sawyer, Samuel Sawyer, Katie Sawyer, and Cassidy Lukas, a great great grandchild; Linda Rae Sawyer, and a brother; Keith (Nancy) Skidmore of Pearson. In addition to his parents, Garth was preceded in death by sisters; Cecelia Grams June Bauknecht and Verean Maleug, and brothers; Harlan Skidmore and Forest Skidmore. A memorial mass will take place on Saturday, October 24, 2020 at 9:00 AM at Ss. Mary and Hyacinth with Father Charles Hoffmann officiating. A visitation will take place on Saturday at the church from 8:30 until the time of the service.
