Gary L. Domke, age 69, passed away unexpectedly on the morning of Thursday, August 7, 2025 at the place he loved most, National Forest Campground on Pine Lake. Gary was born in Antigo on March 7, 1956, to the late Ralph and Margaret (Draeger) Domke. Gary was united in marriage to Cheryl A. Burkhart on November 5, 1977.
Gary worked as a cheese maker for Kraft USA, The Antigo Cheese Co., and Sartori for 42 years. Most recently he worked as Camp Host for National Forest Campground on Pine Lake for the past 6 years.
Gary loved being outdoors. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and sports. Gary had a soft spot for his pups. He treasured the time working on the family farm with his son Rick and the various projects he took on with his son Jason. Gary was very fond of watching his grandkids and was known to always be willing to lend a hand, especially to his family. Gary was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, Wisconsin Badgers, and Milwaukee Bucks. He always looked forward to his afternoon naps and never turned down a cold beer.
In addition to his wife Cheryl, Gary is survived by his sons Rick (Shalynn) Domke of Antigo, and Jason (Sabrina) Domke of Antigo, his sister Beverely (Louis) Domke Krivoshein of Gleason, and his brothers and sisters-in-law Judy and Vince Burkhart of Elcho, Russ and Debbie Burkhart of Gleason, and Debbie Wisniewski (partner Jeff Rickert) of Antigo. Gary is also survived by his grandchildren Rayden, Elisabeth, Augustus, Woodrow, and Delaney, his step-grandchildren Vincent Sells, and Fred Fischer, and many nieces and nephews.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Margaret, his mother and father-in-law, Paul and Helen Burkhart, sisters-in-law infant Vivian and Debra Burkhart, and brother-in-law Steve Wisniewski.
A memorial service for Gary will be held on Friday, August 15, 2025 at 12:00 PM at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home with Pastor Jarod Fenske officiating. A visitation will take place prior to the service from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
