Geneva Rife

Geneva Rife, age 91, died Wed., Oct. 12, 2011 at Eastview Medical and Rehabilitation in Antigo, WI. She was born Nov. 24, 1919 in La Crosse, KS, daughter of the late William and Pauline Anna (Jacobs) Schwindt. She married Harold Rife on July 4, 1941 in Hays, KS. He preceded her in death on March 15, 2010. Mrs. Rife attained her BA and MA at Ft. Hays State College. She went on to teach at Ft. Hays State College, in a one-room school in Rush County, KS, at high school in McCracken, KS, and Boys Tech in Milwaukee. She enjoyed her time with the Jolly Mates in Milwaukee. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle was important to her, and she attended Body Recall classes. She was also a member of the Milwaukee Trade and Technical Retired Teachers and Arbutus Lutheran Church. Survivors include 3 daughters, Jean Rife of Brookline, MA, Jan (Marty Barnes) Rosenberg of Milwaukee, Joy Rife of Dallas, TX; 2 sons, Dr. Joe (Janet) Rife of Belmont, MA, and John (Cindy) Rife of Fairfield Glade, TN; 9 grandchildren, Jason (Allison Arnold-Rife) Rife, Jenny Drechsler, Jake Rife, Anna Pearlman, Andrew Rosenberg, Nathan (Katie Bell) Rosenberg, Nicole Rosenberg, Rachelle Norby, and Raun Norby; and 4 great-grandchildren, Aniah Brown, Jared Rife, Quinlan Drechsler, and Miles Rosenberg. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Jo Rife, and two brothers, George and Wayne Schwindt. In accordance with her wishes, no services will be held.
