Georgia Ann Carley

Feb 22, 1951 — Jun 16, 2026

Georgia Ann Berndt Carley, age 75, of Shawano County passed away at her home on Tuesday, June 16, 2026.

Georgia was born on February 22, 1951 in Antigo to the late George and Laverne (Pennings) Berndt.

She was a graduate of Antigo High School. During her high school years, she met Jerry Carley, who would become her husband and the person she would share life’s adventures with. The couple was married on April 27, 1968 in Antigo. Jerry preceded her in death on December 28, 2017.

The couple moved to Neenah following marriage where they raised their family. Georgia worked as a dark room tech in the radiology department of St. Elizabeth’s Hospital and also worked part time packaging one of her favorite things, books.

Georgia and Jerry spent their “off” time visiting Shawano County, camping with family and friends for many years. They eventually built a home there and along with family and friends made many great memories there.

Her enjoyments were many including reading, visiting the casino, attending Hodag Festival, camping, sitting around the campfire drinking beer with family and friends, and spending time with her grandchildren. She will be missed by her pet cats Sammie, Jinx, and Rusty and her backyard wildlife friends whose appearances she waited on every spring.

Survivors include a daughter Kerri (Jamie) Piller of Schofield, Matt Miller who Georgia loved as a son and his wife Amy of Appleton, grandchildren; Heather, Morgan, David, Christopher, Emily, 8 great grandchildren, her siblings: Jane Deacy, Diane Skelly, Kim (Chris) Ierien, Kyle (Randy) Berger, Kay (Dewey) Chrudimsky, Kurt (Brenda) Berndt, 2 brothers-in-law Richard “Dick” Craig and Ronald (Brian Poschock) Carley.

In addition to her parents and husband, Georgia was preceded in death by a son Bret, a sister Judy Craig, brothers-in-law Patrick “Pat” Skelly, William “Bill” Deacy, Jack Carley, Patrick Carley and his wife Theresa, and sister-in-law Janice Carley.

Visitation will be Monday, June 22 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Reverend Dick Kendall will officiate. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to Matt Miller, who Georgia cherished as a son and who along with his family she considered part of her own family. Special appreciation is also extended to dear friends Dan and Denise, Stan and Cindy and Stacy for all of the memories and keeping Mom in your circle of friendship.
