Gerald "Jerry" Halwas, of Deerbrook, died Sunday June 17, 2012 at home under the care of LeRoyer Hospice, and his family and friends. He was 75 years old. He was born July 16, 1936 in Milwaukee, son of the late Gilbert and Ruth Halwas. He was employed as an electrician at Ladish in Milwaukee. He spent many good times at the family cottage in Deerbrook throughout his life, and upon retirement he moved to Deerbrook permanently. Mr. Halwas enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors. He also traveled the world scuba diving. Survivors include his son, Greg Halwas of Cudahy; 4 grandchildren, Eli Halwas, Michael O'Brien, Nicholas Size, and Angie Size; 2 nephews, Mark (Deanne) Halwas of Milwaukee, and Brian (Lynn) Halwas of Milwuakee; and best friend Henry Koc of Grafton, with whom he enjoyed many travels and adventures together. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Gina Size and a brother, Kurt Halwas. A memorial service will take place at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home. Visitation will be 10-1 Saturday at the funeral home.
