Geraldine Panka

Geraldine Panka, of Pelican Lake, died Thurs. Oct. 14, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rhinelander at the age of 83.She was born Sept. 22, 1927 in Milwaukee, daughter of the late Aloysius and Anna (Kubera) Ziarkowski. She married Elmer Panka on Sept. 8, 1964 in Milwaukee. He survives and resides in Pelican Lake.Mrs. Panka was employed for various factory and office duties at Riha's Clothing Manufacturing, WT Rogers, Universal Electronics, and BJ Hamilton. Prior to retirement in Pelican Lake, she resided in Milwaukee and Sullivan.She was a member of St. John Catholic Church. She loved cats, and enjoyed gardening and raising chickens.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy and Mae.A funeral mass will take place at 10:00 a.m. Mon. at St. John Catholic Church in Pelican Lake. Fr. John Gerritts will officiate. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Sun. at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home in Antigo, and 9-10 a.m. Mon. at the church. Burial will follow the service in Forest Home Cemetery, Pelican Lake.
