Gladys M. Nixon, age 78, of Antigo, died Sunday at Rosalia Gardens under the care of LeRoyer Hospice, her family and the staff of Rosalia Gardens. Gladys was born March 8, 1936 in Pearson to the late William and Gladys (Dalton) Page. She was united in marriage to Jerome Nixon on April 23, 1955 in California. During her husband's military service, they resided in California, Missouri, and Illinois. They returned to the White Lake area in the early 1970's. Gladys was a homemaker, worked as a cook at White Lake High School and was a caregiver to her mother and later to residents of Parkview Manor. She attended St. John Catholic Church in Antigo and St. Stanislaus in Langlade. She was a graduate of Antigo High School class of 1954. Besides spending time with her girls, Gladys enjoyed woodworking, dancing, reading, baking, singing, shopping, picking berries, and painting ceramics. Survivors in addition to her husband include, 6 daughters, Shelly (Gary) Vanness of Freedom, Lori (Joe) Ziegelbauer of Birnamwood, Sandra (Rick) Rea of Elton, Janie (Bryan) Wisniewski of Elton, Margo (Mark) Scheiderer of Wausau, and Tina (Gerald) Rindal of Antigo, 13 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, a sister, Eileen Antonakis of King, and a sister-in-law, Eunice Page of Pearson. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Sterle Page, a sister Joy Zelinski, and a brother-in-law, Harry Antonakis. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday at 6:00 PM at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home. Deacon Gary Vanness will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday at the funeral home from 4:00-6:00PM.
