Gustave "Gust" Irvin Ullman

Gustave “Gust” Irvin Ullman, age 83 passed away peacefully on July 24, 2022. Gust was born on December 11, 1938 in the Town of Peck to the late Benjamin and Della (Zirkle) Ullman. He attended Antigo High School and then served in the Army National Guard. He also served in active duty during the Berlin Crisis. On June 7, 1969, he was united in marriage to Joyce (Thielman) Doucette. He was devoted to her as well as her five children, he raised as his own. Their union then brought two more children. Gust worked as a dairy farmer, logger, trucker and founded Gust Ullman Logging & Trucking. He enjoyed hunting, trap shooting, and bowling. He was passionate about these hobbies and sponsored both a bowling and trap team. He enjoyed traveling especially the Northwoods. He also served as a volunteer fireman for the Town of Peck and was a member of the Northwoods Antique Tractor Club. Most of all he enjoyed time spent with his family, especially while playing a game of cards. He was a former member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Polar and most recently a member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Deerbrook. In addition to his wife, Gust is survived by children Allen Doucette (Khala Sullivan) of Antigo, Janine (James) Nonnenmacher of Antigo, Jay (Teri) Doucette of Gleason, Elayne (Tim) Fischer of Merrill, Jill (Gary) Hohensee of Aniwa, Gust Jr “Dooner” (Sue) Ullman of Deerbrook, and Jody Ullman of Madison, sisters Mary Rose Minton of Waupaca, Betty Wright of King, WI, Bridgette Berg of FL, Edith Laridean of Reedsberg, and Clara Roseburrough of Deerbrook, brothers Frank (Gail) Ullman of Antigo and Donald (Laurie) Ullman of Antigo, 36 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. In addition to his parents, Gust was preceded in death by siblings, Susan Jacobs, Francie Schuman, Charles Ullman, James Ullman, David Ullman, Grace Mervyn, Marjorie Martin, Julius Ullman, and infant brother Jerry Ullman, 1 grandchild, and 2 great grandchildren. A funeral service for Gust will take place on Friday, July 29, 2022 at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Deerbrook at 11:00 AM. Visitation will take place on Thursday, July 28, 2022 at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home from 4:00-8:00 PM and on Friday at the church, prior to the service, from 10:00-11:00 AM. Interment will follow the service at Forest View Cemetery in the Town of Vilas. Military honors for Gust will take place at the grave site. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Town of Peck Volunteer Fire Department or St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Deerbrook.
