Helen M. Swanson, formerly of Lily, died peacefully, Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at Eastview Medical and Rehabilitation. She was 100 years old. She was born June 7, 1916 in Polk County, daughter of the late Edwin and Nora (Nelson) Thompson. She married Kenneth "Kelly" Swanson on June 10, 1938 in Nashua, IA at The Little Brown Church in the Vale. He preceded her in death on February 14, 1994. Mrs. Swanson was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in White Lake. She enjoyed yard work, gardening, cards, and puzzles. Survivors include 2 daughters, Linda (Mike) Frank of Hollister, and Janet (Marvin) Crane of East Lansing, MI; 2 grandsons, Brian Stone and Corey (Jessica) Stone and a great grandson, Kenneth "Kelly" Stone. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 brothers, 2 sisters and her grandson Brian's wife, Sara Stone. A celebration of Helen's life will take place on Saturday, March 18, beginning at 10:00 AM at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in White Lake with a memorial service following at 11:00 AM. Reverend Kelly Smith will officiate.
