Helga Annamarie Schmidt

Helga Annamarie Schmidt of Pearson passed away on April 6, 2025 at Care Partners, under the care of LeRoyer Hospice. She was 88 years old.

Helga was born on August 21, 1936 in Zuffenhausen, Germany to the late Alfred and Christine Anna Katharina (Hohn) Schöllmann.

Helga met Franklin Schmidt while he was stationed in Germany and the couple was united in marriage on September 25, 1958 at the chapel on the U.S. Army Base. Helga was a homemaker. She and Franklin raised their family in Milwaukee and enjoyed weekends in Pearson. She also did in home childcare. Upon retirement, Helga and Franklin made Pearson their permanent home.

Helga loved puzzles, crocheting Afghans, and sewing clothes for her children and their dolls. She also enjoyed visiting with neighbors at Walleye Lodge.

In addition to her husband of 66 years, Helga is survived by daughters Donna (Donald) Orlow of Polar, Karen (David) Lukaszewicz of West Bend, and Patricia (Robert) Kriewald of Iron Ridge, grandchildren Michael Orlow, Deana (Shafree) Maxwell, Jennifer Lukaszewicz, Kevin (Gina) Lukaszewicz, Brent Kriewald, Cody (fiancé Kendra) Kriewald, and Austin Kriewald, great grandchildren Arianna, Connor, Gwendolyn, Cameron, Stella, Vera, Julius, Deshawn, Isaiah, and Noah, sister Gerda (Wolfgang) Legler, many nieces, nephews and in-laws.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepmother Magdalena, siblings Sigrid (Eric) Heller and Heinz (Gudrin) Schöllmann, and granddaughter-in-law Brianne Orlow.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Helga’s family would like to extend a special thank you to LeRoyer Hospice and Care Partners for their care and support during this time.
