Herbert R. Wolter, lifelong Antigo area resident, died Sun. Oct. 31 at Eastview Medical and Rehabilitation. He was 92 years old. He was born March 12, 1918 in the Town of Ackley, son of the late Frank and Rose (Sensenbrenner) Wolter. He married Delilah Hartman, and she preceded him in death on Dec. 29, 1955. He later married Hilda Wild, and she died on July 25, 1996. He attended Polar Grade School and Antigo High School. He was a lifelong member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Polar, and his church was of the utmost importance to him. He served on various church boards.Mr. Wolter was a potato farmer, and founded Hyland Lakes Brand, Inc. He was a long time member of the area potato growers association, and Farm Bureau. He will be remembered as a generous and kind-hearted man. He treasured his church, his family, and farming. He also enjoyed deer hunting, playing cards, and traveling to Florida. Survivors include 4 children, Glendon (Jeannie) Wolter, Caroline (Thomas) Wild, John (Debra) Wolter, Michael (Corinne) Wolter, all of Antigo; 3 step-daughters, Carol (Jack) Bennetts of Antigo, Mary Jane Paff of Antigo, and Linda (John) Scott of Green Bay; 5 sisters, Verna (Ted) Drucks of Seymour, Lorraine Buck of Wausau, Rita (Ken) Boettcher of Antigo, Audrey (Bud Artz) Patoka of Neenah, and Diane (Tom) Bunck of Oshkosh; 3 brothers, Jack Wolter of Palm Desert, CA, James (Ann) Wolter of Neenah, and Michael Wolter of Waupaca; 31 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren; 4 sons-in-law, Norbert Schroepfer, Gerald Greisinger, Dennis Lichtenberg, and Leon Summ; and step-daughter-in-law, Pat Wild.In addition to his first wife Delilah, and his later wife, Hilda, he is preceded in death by 4 daughters, Rosemary Schroepfer, Ruth Greisinger, Patricia Lichtenberg, and Beverly Summ; 2 step-sons, Conrad Wild, and Norman Wild; 2 brothers, Glendon Wolter, and Donald Wolter; 2 sisters Phyllis Petts, and Mary Ellen Kavanaugh; and a granddaughter, Theresa Bolen.
