Holly Joy (Kummer) Hayes of Antigo was welcomed into the Kingdom of her Lord and Savior on December 12, 2020 surrounded by her family at the age of 63. She was under the care of her family and Le Royer Hospice. Holly was born on December 25, 1956 in Manitowoc to Valetta “Bonnie” (Weber) Kummer and the late Edwin Kummer. Holly grew up in Manitowoc prior to moving to the White Lake area during her freshman year of high school. She then graduated from White Lake High School. On June 28, 1975, Holly was united in marriage to Gordon “Digger” Hayes in Langlade. Holly worked for the White Lake School District, was a floor supervisor at K-Mart and was a partner with her husband Digger, owning and operating Digger’s Plumbing and Electric. Holly had a zest for life, she enjoyed snowmobiling, cross country skiing, camping, family trips and winters in Arizona with Digger, her parents, and her many friends. She was the organizer of parades, themed parties, and games in their Arizona circle. Holly was all about family. She was a generous mother, wife, grandmother, sister, and friend, always putting others before herself. She was strong and courageous throughout her health challenges and battle with cancer, never complaining. Her faith carried her. Holly is survived by her husband, Digger of Antigo, her mother; Bonnie Kummer of Manitowoc, a daughter; Hope (Brian) Baginski of Antigo, a son; Saun (Heather) Hayes of Merrill, grandchildren; Hannah (fiancé Justin), Gabrielle, Hunter, Isaac, and Payton, great grandson; Jaxson, a great granddaughter due to arrive in May of 2021, step grandchildren; Leslee and Madisin, 4 sisters; Karen (fiancé Jim) Kummer of Mosinee, Connie (Larry) Neuman of Antigo, Elly (Arnold) Bostwick of Post Lake, Audra (Mark) Gruenewald of Menomonee Falls and many adoring nieces and nephews. Holly was preceded in death by her father, Edwin, whom she dearly loved. The funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 AM at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home. Reverend Donald Engebretson will officiate. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and Thursday from 9:30 until the service at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home. The funeral service will be livestreamed on the Strasser-Roller Funeral Home Facebook. The wearing of masks will be required. Interment will be in Queen of Peace Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial in Holly’s name may be directed to the Volm Cancer Center. “We are all visitors to this time, this place. We are just passing through. Our purpose here is to observe, to learn, to grow, to love…and then we return home.” Holly’s family extends a heartfelt thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff that cared for her at the Volm Cancer Center, the Aspirus Langlade Hospital Emergency Department, and LeRoyer Hospice for their compassionate loving care. Each of you went above and beyond and your kindness helped so very much on this journey.
