Hope Eleanor Pennington died in Antigo on Dec. 21, 2013 at the age of 88. Hope was born Dec. 11, 1925 in Park Falls, daughter of the late Allen and Hazel (Marx) Prosser. She married Eugene Pennington at St. Mary Catholic Church in Antigo on May 21, 1945. Mr. Pennington survives and resides in Antigo. Mrs. Pennington lived in Rhinelander and Michigan before moving to Antigo. She was a homemaker, and during her younger years worked at Fry's Diner, Vulcan Mill, and Weinbrenner Shoe Factory. She also assisted her husband in the real estate business. Hope supported her community through her efforts as a Girl Scout Volunteer, Langlade Hospital Volunteer, and member of the Langlade Hospital Auxiliary. Hope was a member of St. John Catholic Church. Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a daughter, Teresa (Jim) Schroepfer of Antigo; a son, Peter (Yvonne) Pennington of Antigo; a daughter-in-law, Suzanne Pennington of Post Lake; 9 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Pennington; a brother, Delmar "Swede" Prosser; and a sister-in-law, Clairabelle Prosser. Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church, with Fr. Charles Hoffmann officiating. Visitation will be 9:00-11:00 a.m. on Tuesday in the gathering hall at St. John Catholic Church. Burial will follow the service at Queen of Peace Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
