It is with great sadness that the family of Ingrid Winkle (Hess) announce her passing on Sunday September 24th, 2023, at the age of 68 in Antigo, WI.
Ingrid was born on February 21, 1955, in Salzburg, Austria. At only a few months old she moved to Chicago, IL with her parents.
She was united in marriage to Harry Winkle at St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church in Chicago, IL on September 21, 1974.
She was a homemaker while they lived in Glenview, IL, and Oahu, Hawaii during the years Harry served in the US Marine Corp. Upon Harry’s retirement from the military, the couple settled in Burlington, WI where they were able to raise their three children, enjoy the country life and make many lasting memories.
Retirement and love of the north woods lead them to make Lakewood, WI for their permanent home.
Ingrid was a fabulous cook and enjoyed making delicious homemade meals for her family and friends. She loved that she was able to teach her traditional German meals to her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed crafting, decorating their home with antiques, traveling to any beach, family time during the holidays and sharing family history. She leaves a legacy of good food, love, and family unity.
Ingrid will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 49 years, Harry; three children: Richard (Sonya) Winkle of Arkdale, WI, Kenny (Heather) Winkle of Twin Lakes, WI, Kristina (Kyle) Devore of Delavan, WI, seven grandchildren: Gavin, Hunter, Autumn, Cohen, and Ethan Winkle, and Jayden and Hailey Devore; a brother Leonard “Lenny” Hess of Burlington, WI and many other beloved relatives and friends.
Ingrid was preceded in death by her parents Leonard Hess and Eva (Helmlinger) Hess and a sister Anna Hess.
A celebration of Ingrid’s life will be held in Spring 2024.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff of Bay at Eastview for their care and compassion.
