Jack Pavek

Jack Allen Pavek, 78, died October 25 at his home in Polar under the care of LeRoyer Hospice and his family. He was born May 6, 1935 in Polar, the son of the late Otto and Jessie (Hansen) Pavek. On July 14, 1962 he married Orlene Packard in Antigo. She survives. Mr. Pavek graduated from Antigo High School in 1954. He was a second generation mink rancher, owning and operating Polar Mink and Fox Farm His children Todd, Tony and Torrie continue to mink ranching with their families. Jack was a lifelong member of Ranchers Fur Auction. Because of his expertise and dedication to raising mink, Jack produced top quality furs. His skill in the mink industry allowed him to become an exceptional grader of mink. Mr. Pavek was an expert marksman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He passed his gardening expertise along to his children and grandchildren. Mr. Pavek was quick with a joke and a real story teller. Time spent with family and friends were dear to him. He enjoyed listening to Country Western music. Survivors, in addition to his wife, include sons, Todd (Denise) Pavek of Polar, Tony (Tammy) Pavek of Polar; daughters, Terrie (Jody) Markgraf of Polar, Tracie (Kirt) Marten of Antigo and Torrie (Jack) Stegall of Elton; 14 grandchildren, Chris (Holly) Pavek, Tania, Nicholas, Mandie Pavek, Tabitha (Jon) Irish, Travis (Alanda Pizl) Pavek,Trent, Taylor, Nicole (Casey Marquardt) Pavek, David, Adam and Luke Marten, Justin and Sarah Stegall; Great grandchildren, Amber and Abby Pavek; another great grandchild to arrive in December; sister, Marilyn Walters, Polar; brother Bob (Ethel) Pavek of Polar; sister-in-law, Monica Ver Hagen, of Antigo; brother-in-law, George (Velma) Packard of Antigo; many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by two daughters from a previous marriage and their families. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant son, Toby; brother, Gene Pavek; sister-in-law, Judy Pavek; brother-in-laws, Bill Walters and John Ver Hagen. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 am on Tuesday, October 29, at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home. Great nephew, Joel Walters, Reverend Marvin Kindle and Dustin Christiansen will officiate. Visitation will be Monday at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home from 4:30 pm until 8:30 pm and from 9:30 am until 11:30 am Tuesday prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Town of Polar Cemetery at a later date.
