Jack Strasser

John William "Jack" Strasser, age 80, lifelong area resident and Antigo ambassador died Monday, April 29, 2019 at The Bay at Eastview. Jack was born on June 25, 1938 in Antigo to the late John and Gladys (Prosser) Strasser. He attended Fairview Elementary School and Antigo Junior High School. Jack was a true ambassador for Antigo and Langlade County. His presence at Antigo area sporting events and activities was a constant for the community. Jack could be seen leading just about every parade in town with the City of Antigo Police Department, an organization very dear to him, as was the Antigo Fire Department. He was a regular at The Dixie Lunch and had friends in every setting. He was dedicated to the well being of the community, attending City Council meetings and doing errands and lunch deliveries on his bike when he was able to. Jack was a train enthusiast. He was a model train collector and visiting trains and train museums throughout the state was a great enjoyment for him. Jack liked to play pool and played on the VFW team for several years. An avid Milwaukee Brewer Fan, he loved his trips to the ball games with City of Antigo Park and Recreation trips as well as with his nephews. Jack lived a faith filled life as a member of First Baptist Church of Antigo. His faith in God and his church family were of upmost importance to him. Survivors include his sister; Lorraine Jankowski of Antigo, 7 nephews; Paul Jankowski, Andy (Susan) Jankowski, Tony (Cindy) Jankowski, David (Angalla) Jankowski, Bruce Jankowski, Lukas (John) Jankowski, Ben Jankowski and many great nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by a brother-in-law Ray Jankowski. Funeral services will be held on Saturday May 11 at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church. Reverend Dick Kendall will officiate. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 10 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home and on Saturday at the church from 10:00 AM until the service. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Memorials in Jack's name will be established for First Baptist Church, City of Antigo K-9 unit, and City of Antigo Park and Recreation to offset the cost of a future Milwaukee Brewer Trip. The family extends a special thank you to the Bay at Eastview for their years of loving care.
