James Allen Nixon

James Allen Nixon, age 87, of Elton died May 12, 2021 at Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain, MI. Jim was born on March 2, 1934 to the late Leonard and Vera (Murray) Nixon. Following graduation from White Lake High School in 1952, Jim joined the US Airforce serving until 1956. He worked in carpentry was a talented upholsterer, mason, and sharpened saws. His talent and hard work ethic led him to building his own stovewood home. Jim served as City of Antigo Inspector as well. Jim enjoyed the outdoors, growing vegetables and ginseng and raising ostriches and emus. He was an avid skier and was always willing to teach youngsters the sport. He enjoyed dancing and gathering with family and friends. Survivors include a brother Jerome "Nick" Nixon of Elton, a sister Gertrude Spychalla of Antigo, dear friends, Pat Meyer, Kay Majest, and special friend Sarah Halverson as well as many nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by a brother Joseph and a sister Mary Jane Kostelny, brother in law Paul Kostelny, sister in law Gladys Nixon and brother in law James Spychalla. In accordance with his wishes, no services will be held.
