James "Jim" Edward Mahan died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012 at the home of his brother under the care of his wife and LeRoyer Hospice. He was born July 28, 1951 in Mt. Clemens, MI, son of the late Edward Mahan and Delores Elizabeth (Greening) Mahan Lombardo. He married Nancy Mahan on July 16, 1982 at Peace Lutheran Church in Antigo. She survives. A 1970 graduate of Antigo High School, he was employed as a supply sergeant for the National Guard in Milwaukee, where he attained the rank of E-7. He also worked at True Value in Antigo and Ace Hardware in New Mexico. He workd at Kmart stores in both New Mexico and Antigo. He had lived in New Mexico for 10 years before returning to the Antigo area. He was an animal lover, and was a former member of the Langlade County Humane Society board. In addition to his wife Nancy, he is survived by a brother Robert Allan Mahan of Antigo; niece Alexis; and nephews Nikolas, Dalton, and James A. He was preceded in death by his parents and niece Heather Mahan. A funeral service will take place at 10:30 A.M. Friday at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home, with Pastor Donald Sprengler officiating. Visitation will be 4-7 Thursday at the funeral home. A second visitation will take place 9:30-10:30 Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Elmwood Cemetery. Local veterans will perform military honors at the cemetery.
