James O. MacDonald, age 92, of Antigo, passed away on Saturday, February 28, 2026 under the care of his family and LeRoyer Hospice.
Jim was born on March 10, 1933 in Antigo to the late James and Opal (McNinch) MacDonald.
He was united in marriage to Lois Banczak on April 28, 1956 at St. Hyacinth’s Catholic Church.
Jim was a graduate of Antigo High School class of 1951. He then served in the US Army from April 1953 to April 1955, having served in Korea for 16 months. He was a member of Leland-Tollefson VFW Post 2653 of Antigo and was a recipient of their Veteran of the Year award.
Jim worked for Wilke Windows from 1959 until 1967 and then Wausau Metals from 1967 until his retirement in 1995.
Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, and casino trips. His greatest love by far was for his family.
Survivors include seven daughters: Jean ( Tom) Koppa of Sun Prairie, WI, Julie (John) Zollpriester of Gleason, Laurie (Scott) Marshall of Charlotte, MI, Melanie (Mark) Rinehart of Crandon, Patti (Todd) Lucht of Antigo, Susie Raab (Shawn Perrot) of Antigo, Amy (Josiah) Johnson of Aniwa, 2 sons: Jim (Carla) MacDonald of Wausau, Bob ( Beth) MacDonald of Aniwa, 18 grandchildren and their families: Christina and Kayla Koppa, Nick MacDonald, Amanda Marshall, J.C. MacDonald, Allie Cramer, Brittany (Lucht) Jensen, Brandon Lucht, Brianna and Brent MacDonald, Kevin Raab, Ashley (Raab) Gallion, Mackenzie Raab, Whitley, Adeline, Karina, Ezra, and Noah Johnson, 24 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Jim was preceded in death by a son Michael MacDonald, a grandson Kyle Lucht, sisters Betty (Doug) Holmberg and Maxine MacDonald, a brother George (Judy) MacDonald and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Jerry and Bernice Banczak.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 13 at 11:30 AM at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home with visitation from 9:30 AM until the service. Military honors will follow the service at the funeral home. Interment will be Queen of Peace cemetery at a later date.
The MacDonald family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff at Rosalia Gardens, LeRoyer Hospice and Strasser-Roller Funeral Home for the compassionate care given to our dad and all of us throughout Dad’s journey.
