James Milton Jones, age 84, of Bryant died June 1, 2021, at his home under the care of his family and LeRoyer Hospice. James was born on November 13, 1936, to the late Reverend John and Wanda (Orr) Jones in Dayton, Ohio. The family lived in Elton, WI during Jim’s younger years where he attended Elton Grade School and they later moved to West Bend where Jim graduated from West Bend High School. He then went on to serve in the US Navy for two years and continued his service as a reservist. James married Betty Jane Kraft on June 3, 1961, in Santa Clara, CA. The couple resided in San Jose, CA where their children were born and spent their early years. The family then moved to Elton. While living in California, Jim worked painting small aircraft. He then went on to work for United Airlines, painting, inspecting and as a supervisor. When the family moved to Elton Jim worked at Polar Mill and raised pigs and then as a supervisor at Amron Corporation. As a dedicated member of Four Corners Assembly of God Church, Jim served as a deacon and treasurer. He also taught Sunday School and was the van driver for the church youth. Committed to serving his community, Jim was a volunteer fire fighter for the White Lake Fire Department and an EMT for Troutland Rescue. He loved the outdoors, fishing, trapping, hunting deer, turkeys, and trips to Colorado for elk with his son and nephews, and antelope hunting with his wife. He loved to travel with his wife and enjoyed trips to Canada, Israel and visited his grandson and his family in Taiwan. Jim was an avid bowler and was a member of the Elton Eagles bowling team. Jim enjoyed listening to The Gaithers and Booth Brothers. Working on the farm was a passion of his and he truly enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren participate in sports and activities. In addition to his wife, Betty, of 60 years, Jim is survived by three daughters: Deborah (Julio Yeste) Jones-Yeste of Antigo, Teresa (Paul) Romprey of Pearson, Sheri Jones of Antigo, and a son; Eric (Sara) Jones of Appleton, 12 grandchildren: David (Mia) Wickersheim of Taiwan, Joshua Wickersheim, Justin (Nariko) Wickersheim, Elijah (fiancé Abi) Wickersheim, Isaac Wickersheim all of Antigo, Adisun Romprey of Pearson, Amanda and Lovelle Jones of Antigo, Michelle Jones of Appleton, Bradley Jones of Madison, Kelly Jones of Appleton and Grace of Appleton, 12 great grandchildren: Jonathon, Jamison, Emmett, Preston, Amelia, Julian and Vivian Wickersheim, Kiana Jones, Kenya Wynter-Richardson, JáKariana Birt, and Everly and Brantley Jones. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by siblings: Phyllis Mussey, Leona Jones, and Michael Jones. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday June 9th at 11:00 AM at Four Corners Assembly of God Church. Visitation will be held on Tuesday June 8th from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home and on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the service at the church. Interment will be in Bent Cemetery with military honors at the graveside. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made to 4 Corners Assembly of God Building Fund.
