James Richard Messer

James Richard Messer, age 75, died Friday May 10, 2024 at Care Partners in Antigo.

Jim was born on October 13, 1948 in Antigo to the late Curtis and Rosella (Lewis) Messer. Jim was raised in White Lake, attending Wilson Grade School and White Lake High School.

On January 12, 1970 he was united in marriage to Marie Warner. She preceded him in death on December 13, 2007.

Jim was an over the road truck driver, working for Prince Bros. for many years.

He and his family lived in West Virginia for a short time and Delavan, WI then returned to the Antigo area.

Jim had a love for music, cars, and the Milwaukee Brewers. His greatest love, however, was for his family.

Survivors include his son Curt (Heather) Messer of Waupun, a daughter Kim Leitermann, 4 grandchildren: Kevin (Niquea) Messer, Kendra (Todd) Deuel, Hunter Leitermann, Haiden Leitermann, 2 great grandchildren: Leila and Aria, a sister Jeannie Straley of Sheboygan Falls, 2 brothers: Joe (Chris) Messer of Birnamwood and John Messer of Antigo.

In addition to his wife and parents, Jim was preceded in death by a daughter Kate and a sister Jenny Harding.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday at 1:00 PM at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home. Reverend Marvin Kindle will officiate. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Langlade Cemetery.
