Janet M. Larsen

Janet M. Larsen of Antigo, passed away on October 11, 2025 at Care Partners in Weston under the care of family and Compassus Hospice. She was 104 years old.

Janet was born on November 11, 1920 in Antigo to the late Jacob “Jack” and Tillie (Koranda) Prastil. She married Paul E. Larsen on March 22, 1943 in Boise, ID. He preceded her in death on September 22, 2008.

Janet graduated from Antigo High School, class of 1938. She went on to attend vocational school in Antigo. She worked as a secretary for Antigo Junior High, Howard Hughes Aircraft, and Sears Catalog.

Janet was a longtime member of United Church of Christ and their Women of Faith Circle. She was a leader of 4-H Cloverleaf. She found joy in the outdoors, whether it was walking, bird watching, or tending to her flower gardens. She also enjoyed animals. She lovingly cared for and fed stray animals. Janet was also a talented baker who loved experimenting with new recipes. She also enjoyed golfing and spending time with loved ones.

Janet is survived by daughter Barbara (Tom) Schnitker of Lawrence, KS, granddaughter Sara (George) Maatta of Richfield, WI, son John Larsen of Weston, WI, granddaughter Tara Renteria of Wausau, WI and great granddaughter Sophia Renteria of Wausau, WI.

In addition to her parents and husband, Janet was preceded in death by a son-in-law Tom Mikkelson and daughter-in-law Doris Larsen.

A burial for Janet will take place at a later date at Antigo Cemetery.
