Janet Royce

Janet Carol Royce, age 87, died peacefully on the morning of December 28, 2020. She was preceded in death by three sons, Michael, Mark and Matthew; and by her husband, Irvin Andrew Royce. She is survived by her son, David Royce, and daughters Rebecca Royce, Amanda Buljubasic and Clarissa Holdorf, as well as 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Janet was born the daughter of Roy and Ada Hughes on August 15, 1933. She attended Antigo High School, and then held a variety of jobs throughout her life: laborer at Weinbrenner Shoe Company, cashier at Super America Gas station; cleaning staff at the Antigo Daily Journal office; bookkeeper for the local FHA office; laundress and cashier at The Quick Wash Laundry, and various and sundry others, paid and as a volunteer. She was a conscientious and hard worker, a devoted parent and a faithful member of her church. She loved her family, her friends and her faith, and these sustained her and gave her hope, even after she suffered a series of devastating strokes in the 1990’s. She was able to remain in her own home with the support of excellent home health nursing care for many years, and when she was unable to remain at home, she moved to Eastview Manor (now the Bay at Eastview) in Antigo, where she lived until her death. The excellence of the care she received there cannot be overstated, and those who serve our communities in that setting, especially in light of the current pandemic, are true heroes. An online memorial service will be held via Zoom, on Saturday, January 9, at 2:30 p.m. CST.
