Jean Carol Van Ooyen

Jean Carol Van Ooyen, age 77, entered into her heavenly home on Sunday, February 22, 2026.

Jean was born on June 1, 1948 in Antigo to the late Herbert and Gertrude (Goeman) Carley.

On May 31, 1969, she was united in marriage to Dennis Van Ooyen. He survives and resides in Antigo.

Jean was a graduate of Antigo High School class of 1966. She then went on to attend Wisconsin College of Cosmetology in Green Bay. She had a career as a beautician, working at several salons in Antigo and then operating the beauty shop at Eastview Medical & Rehabilitation Center for many years. She was also supportive in helping Dennis with his snowmobile repair business.

As a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Jean was active in choir and volunteering her time with various church functions including the Christmas Gala.

Jean had many enjoyments in life. Gardening and working in her yard were treasured hobbies. She was a wonderful baker and often shared her delicious baked goods. Jean was also an accomplished trap shooter. She had a generous and kind heart, dearly loved her family, her husband, and her Lord and Savior.

Survivors in addition to her husband include her son Jason Van Ooyen of Weston, a stepdaughter Kelly (Robert “Bob”) Stimac of Antigo, Grandchildren, Brayden and Brogan (Brooke) Van Ooyen, Caden Schisel, Brandon Gross, Robert “Bobby” (Melissa) Stimac, Jr., Samantha (Andrew) Berg, many great grandchildren, sisters Judy (Richard “Dick”) Bolen of Polar, Joan (William “Bill”) Novak of Antigo, Joel (Karen) Carley of Antigo and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by a son Scott Van Ooyen, a stepdaughter Kim Schisel and a grandson Ryan Gross.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 2 at 12:00 PM at Peace Lutheran Church. Reverend David Karolus will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the service on Monday at the church.

Burial will be held at Elmwood Cemetery at a later date.
