Jerry Albert Banczak

March 16, 1937 — August 14, 2024

Jerry Albert Banczak of Antigo, passed away on August 14, 2024, in Wittenberg under the care of the Homme Home Staff in Wittenberg and Apsirus Wausau Hospice. He was 87 years old.


Jerry was born on March 16,1937 in Antigo to the late Albert and Mildred (Kloida) Banczak. He graduated from Antigo High School, class of 1955. Jerry served in the US Army from 1958 until 1963 in active duty stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington. He returned to Antigo and continued his service in the National Guard from 1963 until 1964.


Jerry was united in Marriage to Bernice Jones on April 27, 1963 in Antigo at St. Hyacinth Church. Bernice preceded Jerry in death on December 29, 2023.


After his service in the Army, Jerry worked for Zelazoski Wood Products for 52 years while he also farmed potatoes, dairy, and beef on the family farm.


Jerry was a member of Ss. Mary and Hyacinth’s Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the Northernaire Ochestra and enjoyed bowling.


Jerry was an animal lover who enjoyed caring for all farm animals, from barn cats to his Herefords. He enjoyed woodworking, jigsaw puzzles, coaching his grandson in little league and spending time with all of his family especially children.


Jerry is survived by his sons Craig Banczak of Antigo and Jeff (Kimberly) Banczak of Wausau, grandson Joshua (Ashley) Krueger of Pewaukee, great grandchildren: Colton and Kinsley, a sister Lois (James) MacDonald, sister-in-laws Marguerite “Peg” Wurtinger and Dolly Jones.


In addition to wife, Bernice, Jerry was preceded in death by brothers-in-law, Ervin and Willis Jones and Jack Wurtinger and sisters-in-law Lucille (Harland) Van Ooyen and Geraldine “Gerry” (Richard) Hoerman.

In accordance with Jerry’s wishes, no services will be held.

Strasser-Roller Funeral Home is assisting the family.
