Jerry Bula

Gerald A. "Jerry" Bula, lifelong Antigo resident, died Jan. 1, 2014 at Langlade Hospital at the age of 62. He was born April 27, 1951 in Antigo, son of the late Floyd and Evelyn (McGuire) Galarowicz, along with his birth father, the late Francis Bula. Mr. Bula was a 1969 graduate of Antigo High School. He owned and operated Jerry's Auto Body since 1986. He was an active member of the Antigo Lions Club, and a recipient of their prestigious Melvin Jones award. He enjoyed his time at the cottage on Lake Metonga, and was an avid fisherman. Winter was ice fishing season and the warmer weather brought open water fishing. He also loved hunting. His family and friends will always remember the fun times they spent playing cards, watching Packers games, and spending time with Jerry. In addition to Shirley Tatro, his loving companion for 32 years, he is survived by a daughter, Jolene (Billy) Cannestra of Germantown, WI; 3 sons, Ryan (Elizabeth) Bula, Troy (Mallarie) Tatro, and Tracy (Becky) Tatro, all of Antigo; 4 sisters, Diane (Roger) Wagnes of Antigo, Barb Wick of Montana, Kathy (Jerry) Carter of Antigo, and Sharon (Gary) Krugel of Antigo; 3 brothers, Dennis (Debbie) Bula of Eagle River, Jim (Judy) Galarowicz of Antigo, and Jerry (Ora) Galarowicz of Antigo; 11 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by Shirley's family, including her parents, Wally and Bernice Wick of Antigo; siblings, Cal (Mary) Wick of Antigo, and Laurie (Bill) Scheurer of Three Lakes; and brother-in-law, Larry Bintz. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Linda Wick Bintz. A funeral service will take place at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home, with Fr. Omer Kelley officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday and 8:30-9:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Interment will follow the service at Elmwood Cemetery.
