Jerry E. Pennington of Post Lake, formerly of Polar, died May 23, 2011 after a brief courageous battle with cancer. He died at his home under the care of LeRoyer Hospice and his family.He was born Dec. 28, 1946 in Antigo, the son of Eugene and Hope (Prosser) Pennington of Antigo. Mr. Pennington, a lifelong area resident, graduated from Antigo High School and attended UW Oshkosh. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1966 serving in Vietnam. On June 22, 1968 in Butternut, WI, he married Sue Przybylski , sharing a love that grew; she survives. After marriage Jerry and Sue lived in Milwaukee, Tigerton, Mercer and returning to the Antigo area living in Polar and most recently at Post Lake.Mr. Pennington was a lumber broker and co-owner of Great Lakes Hardwood Company.He was member of St John Catholic Church. Mr. Pennington loved the lake and being involved with Post Lake Improvement Assoc. Mr. Pennington is survived by his wife, parents and daughters, Jennifer Pennington, Hermosa Beach, CA, Rachel (Brian) Pennington-Hunter, Bloomington, MN; son, Todd (Michele) Pennington, Eden Prairie, WI; two grandchildren, Ellianah and Milo Pennington; father-in-law, Larry Przybylski; a sister, Teresa (Jim) Schroepfer, Antigo and a brother, Peter (Yvonne) Pennington, Antigo.He will be remembered and cherished as a wonderful husband, dad, and grandfather, always. A giving and caring man, he believed in giving rather than receiving. He had a passion for cooking and enjoyed sharing this talent with gatherings of family and friends. Jerry enjoyed hunting and fishing but above all he treasured and loved time with his family.Funeral services will be held Friday at St John Catholic Church, Antigo, at 7:00 p.m. Officiant will be Reverend Charles Hoffmann.Visitation will be Friday at St John Catholic Church from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. until the time of the service.In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made for Fight for the Cure.
