Joan "J.T." Trudy Schuster, age 73, died Monday, September 16, 2013 in Antigo. She was born July 3, 1940 at Post Lake, daughter of the late Carl and Elfrieda (Gunkel) Schuster. She graduated from Antigo High School in 1958. She graduated from Valparaiso in 1963, with a BA in physical education, Spanish, and health. She later earned a master's degree from UW-Whitewater. Ms. Schuster taught in Chesterton, Indiana for 4 years, then she taught at Waterford High School for 36 years. She was a teacher in the fields of physical education, first aid, health, and drugs/narcotics education. She also started the school's Spanish program in 1980. She coached volleyball, softball, pompoms, and cheerleading. After retiring from teaching, she worked at the Old Hen House where she assisted with glass art and selling crafts. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church. Survivors include her brother Fred (Elaine) Schuster of Weston; niece Kathy (Don) Stinson; 2 nephews, Jeff (Kristina) Schuster and Jim (Kathy Koenig) Schuster; a great-niece; 7 great-nephews; special friends Penny Kettlewell and Cindy Dabel; and her beloved corgi, Casey Lu. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her twin sister, Jean Schuster, and a brother, Jim Schuster. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Calvary Lutheran Church, with Pastor Karen Tews officiating. Visitation will be 9:30-11:00 a.m at the church. Interment will follow the service at Elmwood Cemetery. A memorial will be established in her name.
