Joan Kane of Antigo passed away on July 24, 2021 at Aspirus Langlade Hospital at the age of 94. Joan was born on March 27, 1927 in Phlox to the late John and Ida (Bissonette) Neubauer. Joan graduated from Antigo High School class of 1946. She married Thomas Kane on August 13, 1949 at Gesu Church in Milwaukee. Tom preceded her in death in 1995. Joan began her career in health care as a nurse's aide in Antigo. At the age of 50 she attended Sacred Heart School of Nursing and graduated in 1979. She then worked as a licensed practical nurse at Northwest General in Milwaukee. She then went on to practice her true calling of in-home nursing until her retirement in 1992. In 1993, Joan returned to Antigo. Joan's calling as a nurse, led her to volunteer at LeRoyer Hospice in retirement. She also was a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church and was an Adventist community volunteer. Joan was an advocate for health and nutrition. After becoming a vegetarian, she taught cooking classes to others. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, berry picking, and anything else that would get her outdoors as well as all kinds of music from country to opera. Joan is survived by daughters; Mary (Guy) Pavek of Bryant and Colleen (Nicholas) Lashway of Butternut, son; Daniel Kane of Chicago, grandson; Guy (Michaela) Fraley of Mequon, great grandchildren; Savannah Fraley, Guy "Buddy" Fraley, and Jessa Fraley. In addition to her parents and husband, Joan was preceded in death by sisters; Sophie, Bertha, and Augusta. In accordance with her wishes, a private graveside service will be held for Joan. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Sarah and Gary Voytovich and their staff at Evergreen Terrace for the love and care they had for Joan. Memorials in Joan's name may be directed to Antigo's Music in the Park.
