John Dale Archer

John Dale Archer, Antigo resident, died Sunday June 23, 2013 at Langlade Hospital. He was 83 years old. He was born Nov. 26, 1929 in Antigo, son of the late Fern and John Archer. He married Jane Monahan on Jan. 8, 1954 in Antigo, and she survives. Mr. Archer was a graduate of Antigo High School and attended Northcentral Technical College. He served as a fireman in the US Navy, and was in the Korean War. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He worked as a machinist for many years at Perfex in Milwaukee. He also worked at Marathon Electric, Edelman's Meats, Clark's Auto Sales, Vi's Taxi Service, and was caretaker at Elmwood Cemetery. He was also a former resident of Denver. He loved to play cards with his family on Sundays. He also enjoyed fishing, being with his grandchildren, and flea markets. He liked going to Nick's Tap for coffee every morning. Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter Debra Archer (friend Gary) of Antigo; 2 sons, Larry (Wanda) Archer of Antigo, Brian (Sue) Archer of Wittenberg; 2 sisters, Jeanine (Lee) Jacob of Antigo, and Shirley (Rex) Peterson of Waupaca; grandchildren Sherie Archer (Tim) of Antigo, Robert Archer of Elcho, Steve Archer of Antigo, Amber Archer of Wittenberg, Dave Archer of Wittenberg, Katrina Archer of Antigo, Karen Reichert of White Lake, Amanda Parsons of Elton, Stefani Ponce of Fond du Lac, Chelsea Archer of Appleton, Thomas Archer of Antigo, and Larry Jr. "Sonny" (Tiffany) Archer of Antigo; and several great-grandchildren. In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by his son, Michael John Archer; stepfather, Paul Peterson; a brother Harold Archer; and a great-grandson Scottie John Archer. Private services were held at the funeral home.
