John Franklin "Bud" McKinney, of Town of Peck, died September 18, 2008, following a four-year battle with dementia. He was born September 28, 1932, in Merrill, a son of the late John and Paulene (Kexsel) McKinney Sr. During the Korean War, Mr. McKinney served with the US Army from December 1953 until February 1955. Employed as a logger, truck driver, and tree farmer, he was a member of the Christmas Tree Association, the National Rifle Association, and the Leland-Tollefson Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2653 of Antigo. Survivors include his wife Dorothy; granddaughter Terra McKinney; great-granddaughter Maddison Fisher, sister Virginia Reisher of Ogden, UT; three brothers, Richard (Arlene) McKinney of Ogden, UT, Eugene McKinny of Deerbrook, and Daniel (Sue) McKinney of Gleason. In addition to his parents, Mr. McKinney was preceded in death by two sons, Terry and Rodney, and an infant brother, George. Funeral services will be held at 11:15 Monday, Sept. 22 at the funeral home with Rev. Jack LaMar officiating. Following services, military honors will be conducted by Antigo veterans. Burial will be in Forest View Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 4 until 8 p.m. and Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.
