John L. Woody

John Lawrence Woody, age 79, of Antigo passed away peacefully and unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, November 20, 2024.

John was born on November 19, 1945, to the late Lawrence and Doris “Dottie” (Roundtree) Woody in Tibideaux, LA.

His family then moved to Waupaca, where John graduated high school. He went on to school in Minneapolis, obtaining an associate degree in medical technology.

John was united in marriage to Carol Peterson on August 12, 1967 in Manawa, WI. The couple moved to Antigo, where John was employed as a medical technician for 49 years.

As a talented carpenter, John built the home that he and Carol lived and raised their family in. He enjoyed many projects, woodworking, being outdoors, coming up with new inventions, and sweet treats. He was a special grandpa and great grandpa, sharing his love of the woods and teaching the grandchildren all the species of trees in the area. He will most certainly be remembered for sharing time, cupcakes and other sweet treats with his children and grandchildren.

In addition to his wife Carol, John is survived by his children: Jeff (Karla) Woody of Onalaska, Julie (Dave) Bauknecht of Antigo, grandchildren: Sara Rediske, Megan and Andrea Woody, Michalie Bauknecht, Mackenzie (Danny) Nicholson, Madilyn Bauknecht, great grandchildren: Kylee Rauhut, Salem and Summit Nicholson, Mia Hubbard, and Alessia Bauknecht. John is also survived by a brother Lawrence Woody of California.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by 2 sisters: Lana Erickson and Jill Villano.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 26 from 3:00PM until 5:00 PM at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home.
