John Lee Barnett

John Lee Barnett, age 94, of Antigo passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at Aspirus Langlade Hospital surrounded by his wife Ruby of 73 years and his beloved family.

John was born on March 1, 1931 in Lily to the late Virgil and Nona (McIntosh) Barnett. On September 30, 1953, John was united in marriage to Ruby Lee Carter. The couple resided in Waukegan, Sussex and Kenosha, returning to Antigo in March of 1986.

John served in the US Army in active duty from December of 1948 until April 1955. He served in the Army Reserve from October of 1961 until March of 1991.

John worked for the Department of the US Army as a Logistician. John was a member of Antigo United Methodist Church. He served as the church secretary and bookkeeper from 1993 until 1996.

He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, traveling and time with his family.

In addition to his wife Ruby, John is survived by daughters: Kimberly Barnett (Leo) of Germantown and Lisa Barnett (Dave) of Milwaukee, a son John Lee Jr. of Antigo, a granddaughter Megan (Paul) Pedretti of New Berlin and a great granddaughter Avery Pedretti of New Berlin.

John was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Joan Faye, brothers: Charles, Delbert, and infant brother Virgil.

A funeral service will be held on Friday at 12:00 noon at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until the service. Pastor Debbie Pimm will officiate. Interment will be in Bent Cemetery. Military rites will be held at the funeral home following the funeral service.
