John "Jake" Morse Leonard, age 76, died peacefully at his home in Antigo under the care of his family and LeRoyer Hospice on Wednesday, October 29, 2014. He was born July 14, 1938 in Antigo, son of the late Gerald and Catherine (Morse) Leonard. He graduated from Antigo High School in 1956. He then served in the US Army and was stationed in El Paso, TX. Mr. Leonard later owned and operated Border Transportation. Mr. Leonard was a charitable, generous man, who valued his many friendships. He was a pilot, member of the Experimental Aviation Association, and volunteered for the Young Eagles program. He was the family patriarch, and loved to see his family together. Survivors include his three daughters, Susan Leonard, Diane (Richard) Jones, and Denise (Mike) Brohoski; seven grandchildren, Mickey Griep, Huey Griep, Walt Griep, Kaitlyn Jones, Nolan Jones, Nick Razzeto, and Jenna Razzeto; former wife, Carolina Leonard; four stepchildren, Laura Le Blanc, Joe (Elizabeth) Le Blanc, Robert (Kari) Le Blanc, and Charlie (Jenni) Le Blanc; six step-grandchildren, Francesca, John Robert, Laura, Cooper, Charlotte, and Sophie; 2 brothers, Jim Leonard, and Dick (Mary) Leonard; two sisters-in-law, Phylis Leonard, and JoAnn Mandy; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Catherine and Gerald Leonard, as well as two brothers, Jerry Leonard and Peter Leonard. Visitation will be 3:30 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 14 at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home, with a rosary service at 3:30 p.m. A second visitation will be 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the church. A funeral mass will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 15 at Ss. Mary & Hyacinth Catholic Church, with Fr. Jeremiah Worman officiating. Interment will follow the service at Elmwood Cemetery, where local veterans will perform military honors. A memorial will be established in his name.
