Joseph J Sheteron

March 23, 1941 — September 7, 2022

Joseph J. Sheteron, 81 years, passed away September 7, 2022 at the Mountain View Care Center in Wausau. He was born March 23, 1941 in Michigan to the late Joseph and Mini Sheteron and grew up on a farm in lower Michigan. He graduated from high school and spent two years in the US Army. Deployed to Vietnam, the orders were changed in route and he helped defend the Dominican Republic from the Castro boys invasion onto their island. After completing duty he returned home learning the trade of metal polishing. Joe was a skilled brass worker. He used his ability to polish and shine many student musical instruments, from flutes to tubas. He polished musical brass instruments to original condition. Objects from old car parts to objects of art and church alterware. Oil companies had him apply his skill to restoring brass valves in oil pipelines. He was employed at Band Instrument Repair Specialists for several years.


He was an avid trout fisherman and deer hunter. Joe enjoyed walking through the woods with Lee holding hands looking for raspberries and mushrooms.


Joe is survived by his wife Lee Muramatsu, a brother Roy Sheteron, and Paul Sheteron, step-son Kevin (Rachel) Muramatsu and brother-in-law Denis Pace. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Linda and siblings Harold, Donald, Elnora, Edwin, Lowell, Evelyn, Omer, Howard, Clifford, and Betty.


A Funeral Service for Joe will be held on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at 11 am at The Church of the Nazarene, N10399 County Road D, Birnamwood. Rev. Bob Hess presiding. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery. Military honors to follow. Family and friends may pay their respects at the Church, from 10 am until time of service.
