Judi D. Hilger, lifelong area resident, died June 5, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was with her immediate family and received loving care from them, and caregiver Brenda Krause, CNA. She was born July 15, 1947 in Antigo, daughter of the late Edward and Marjorie (Smith) Borneman. She married Larry Hilger on Aug. 14, 1965 in Antigo. He survives. Growing up on her family farm, she established a lifelong bond with her siblings. During her youth, she enjoyed successfully showing her horse "Lucky Lady" for the Triple R Riding Club. She graduated from Antigo High School in 1965, and was selected homecoming queen of her junior class. Judi was employed in the family business, R.J. Hilger and Sons, Inc. She enjoyed baking and cooking, attending music festivals, participating in Phlox Winter Knights Snowmobile Club events, vacationing, yardwork, gardening, fishing and enjoying their lake home in Land O' Lakes, and getaway weekends to their cabin in Goodman. Above all, she will be remembered as a hardworking, strong, determined woman with a huge love for family and friends. Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a daughter, Tracy (Bill Borcherdt) Hilger of Stevens Point; 2 sons, Jason Hilger of Antigo and Monty (Lisa Benishek) Hilger of Antigo; 4 sisters, Joan (Earl Meyer) Breitenfeldt of West Allis, Nancy (Dan) Nelson of Antigo, Mary Kay (Leroy) Baker of Rothschild, Peggy (David) Jaeger of Mosinee, 2 brothers, Robert (Leona) Borneman of Rib Mountain and John Borneman of Ithaca, NY; 3 grandchildren, Adam, Anna, and Alex Hilger; 2 step-grandchildren, Zebadiah Benishek and Amanda Muma; 2 sisters-in-law, Bette Koepke of Menasha and Donna (Marvin) Uttecht of Birnamwood; 7 brothers-in-law, Ralph "Jerry" (Mary) Hilger of Antigo, Richard "Dick" (Mary) Hilger of Bass Lake, Dan (Patti) Hilger of Antigo, Robert (Cindy) Hilger of Palm Springs, CA, William (Terry) Hilger of Antigo, Ed (Lori) Hilger of Antigo, and Gene Arrowood of Sussex; and former daughter-in-law, Jodi Hilger. She was also a special grandma to Hailey Mantor. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Marge Arrowood; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ralph and Marie Hilger; sister-in-law Carol Wilhelm; and brother-in-law John Hilger. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Calvary Lutheran Church, with Rev. John Czarnota officiating. A life celebration gathering will take place from 4-8 Thursday at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home. A second gathering will take place from 10-11 Friday at Calvary. A private burial will take place in Elmwood Cemetery at a later date. A memorial fund will be established in Judi's name.
