Judith "Judy" Seplocha

February 19, 1940 — August 29, 2021

Judith “Judy” Seplocha, of Antigo, died Sunday, Aug. 29, 2021, at Rosalia Gardens under hospice care and surrounded by family. She was 81 years old. She was born Feb. 19, 1940, in Antigo, to Kenneth and Nelda (Sparks) McNeil. Judy graduated from Antigo High School in 1958. She then attended Langlade County Teachers College and worked as an elementary school teacher in both Rantoul, IL, and Neopit, WI, before moving to Ft. Lauderdale, FL, in 1962. She worked for the Broward County Property Appraiser for nearly 30 years and served more than a decade as manager of the Property Appraiser’s West Broward County office. She also taught Sunday school at the United Church of Christ in Ft. Lauderdale for several years and served as a classroom volunteer in her children’s elementary school, often chaperoning fieldtrips or helping out with other school activities. Judy loved Christmas and was known throughout the 1970s and 1980s in her South Florida neighborhood for her annual Christmas Eve open houses. Everyone left with a gift and plateful of homemade cookies and peanut butter fudge. She returned to Antigo in 2002, following the death of her longtime partner, Walter “Bud” Kamm. Judy was an avid reader, and she loved word games like Scrabble and crossword puzzles. Though she was a lifelong Green Bay Packers fan, she loved watching any and all football games, whether college or NFL, regardless of which team was playing. She especially loved the weekly $1-bets on football games she made with her brother-in-law Mike Hickey, until his death in 2019. Judy is survived by her children, Becky (Mark) Stoppa of Wasilla, Alaska, and Steve Seplocha of Wausau; grandchildren Amy Stoppa of Chicago, IL, Sarah (Sada) StoppaHoffman of Boise, ID, and Brennan Seplocha, of Portland, OR. She is also survived by her sisters Kathy (Mike) Augustyn, of Antigo, and Peggy Voigt, of Phoenix, AZ; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and longtime partner, she is preceded in death by her son Jon Seplocha; sister, Patti Hickey; brother, Ronald “Bucky” McNeil; and an infant sister, Donney Jay McNeil. A private celebration of life was held at Chet and Emil’s in Birnamwood Sept. 2.
