Julie Ann Langseth, age 53, died Tuesday February 2, 2021 at her home under the care of her family and LeRoyer Hospice. Julie courageously fought against colon cancer for nearly six years. Although cancer invaded her body, it did not overtake her spirit and her zest for life. Julie was born on April 4, 1967 in Flint, MI, the daughter of Douglas Hoxie and Sharon Kipfer. She was a graduate of Calumet High School class of 1985. It was there that she met her future husband her freshman year, Todd Langseth. Todd and Julie were married on April 11, 1992 in a ceremony in Calumet, officiated by Todd’s father Reverend Robert Langseth. Julie was a graduate of Northern Michigan University earning a degree in education. She also completed her master’s in education at UW-Stevens Point. She student taught in Green Bay and when a position in the Unified School District of Antigo became available, she began her 30-year teaching career. She started out as a 3rd grade traveling teacher between Mattoon and Crestwood Elementary, which led to her position as a 6th grade teacher. Julie was also dedicated to shaping and guiding youth through coaching as well as teaching. She coached at both the middle school and high school levels, coaching track, cross-country and gymnastics. Teaching and Gymnastics were Julie’s true passions. For 29 years, she enjoyed coaching the Antigo Gymnastics Club, as well as Middle school and High school gymnastics. She truly enjoyed transforming young girls into young ladies. She successfully coached many teams and individuals on to state. She was awarded the Wisconsin Gymnastics Coach of the Year in 2005 and in 2020 she was inducted into the Wisconsin High School Gymnastic Coaches Hall of Fame. She was also inducted into the Calumet High School Hall of Fame in 2019. If ever there was a true and genuine friend, it could be found in Julie. She loved her time at Bass Lake, golfing, boating, walks with the dogs, laughing and making memories with her friends, her family, and her best friend, Todd. She was ever so proud of her children and enjoyed every moment of raising them with Todd. Survivors, in addition to her husband Todd, include a daughter; Madi (Ryan Fassbender) of Deerbrook, 2 sons; Connor (Maddy Fitch) of Hewitt, Eric (Maggie Winter) attending U-W Eau Claire, her father; Douglas (Cindy) Hoxie of Oxford, MI, her mother; Sharon Kipfer of Antigo, two sisters; Jennifer (Rick) Glassman of Metamora, MI and Sara (Chris) Mitchell of Birmingham, MI, and her mother and father-in-law Reverend Robert and Delores Langseth of Calumet, MI. Vicar Jennifer Sosinski will officiate. Those in attendance will be asked to socially distance and wear masks. Please refrain from attending if you are feeling sick.
