June Elizabeth Diercks died Sunday, June 17, 2018 at Homme Home of Wittenberg at the age of 98. She was born July 18, 1919 in Escanaba, MI, daughter of the late George A. and Ethel (Harris) Houghton. She married Lyman Diercks on June 24, 1939, and he preceded June in death in 2004. June was raised in Goodman, and she graduated with Goodman High School class of 1936. She attended UW-Madison, and graduated from secretarial school in New York City. She resided with her family in Bryant from 1950-1989, and then moved to Antigo where she enjoyed being part of a close neighborhood of new friends. She was a homemaker, and she also held a rural mail route during World War II while Lyman was in Army officer training. In addition, June worked on the 1970 census for the Town of Price. Her many interests included golfing, playing bridge, traveling, and especially her trips to Europe. She was a talented musician, playing piano, organ, accordion, and banjo. For many years she provided piano entertainment at Eastview Manor. Her family will always remember her excellent cooking. She loved entertaining and made every holiday special. She was a great fan of the Badgers, Brewers, and Packers. June was an active member of Faith United Church of Christ. Survivors include 2 daughters, Diane (Dale) Nauta of Grafton, Carol Wink of Whitefish Bay; a son, David (Barbara) Diercks of Middleton; 7 grandchildren, Nancy (Randy) Ludin, Linda (Jim) Decker, Steven (Shelby) Nauta, Dean (Sarah) Diercks, Peter (Anneliese) Diercks, Katie (Barry) Archer, and Patrick (Samantha) Wink; 15 great-grandchildren, Tim Jansen, Kyle Decker, Amanda Decker, Trevor Nauta, Riley Nauta, Sawyer Diercks, Charlotte Diercks, Clara Diercks, Leo Diercks, Daniel "Iggy" Archer, David "Rex" Archer, Bentley Wink, Jet Wink, Hayden Wink, and Savannah Wink. She will be remembered by all for her loving and generous spirit. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Ethelmae Stamm; a brother, George A. Houghton, Jr.; and a son-in-law, Dan Wink. June's family would like to especially thank Dick and Bette Lund and Peg Diercks for their love and support they gave June, the staff at Homme Home for the care they provided, and her neighbors on Ninth Avenue who made her time in Antigo so enjoyable. A memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Faith United Church of Christ, with Rev. Dr. Wes Jedras officiating. Visitation will be 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the Church. Burial will take place at a later date in Elmwood Cemetery.
